We live in Minnesota where Mother Nature doesn’t keep track of which season it’s supposed to be. Last night was 32 degrees even though it’s May 1st and it snowed.  Didn’t stop us though, we bought a new grill, set it up and grilled last night. Of course, we had to put it in the garage because of the cold and wind, but it was delicious. I don’t know about you but I like to grill year around. There’s nothing like sizzlin’ on the grill.

We had a gas grill before. This time we decided to buy a charcoal grill. The charcoal grill seems to provide much more flavor from the briquettes. I’ve used wood chips with my gas grill trying to get a similar flavor but it wasn’t the same. I love gas for the easiness. Turn it on and its hot quick and mine had a temperature gauge, so helpful. With the charcoal you have to light and wait depending on the heat you want to cook over. But the flavor is worth the wait.

This marinade is the best. I love it! It’s my go-to recipe. When I get up I make the marinade in a gallon baggie, put the chicken in and let it sit on the counter to let it to thaw. It needs to marinate at least of couple of hours. Now it’s BBQ time.

1 C. brown sugar

1 C. Olive oil

½ C. white vinegar

½ C. low sodium soy sauce

This recipe has a ton of flavor and is so perfect! I let it marinate about 6-8 hours. When cooking sear first to seal in flavor then cook about 7 minutes on each side, depending on thickness of chicken. When finished sizzlin’ on the grill, set aside to let the juices settle. Veggies or salad go perfect with this dinner.

Cheese sauce

2 Tbsp. Butter

2 Tbsp. flour

1 C. milk

1 ¼ C. cheese

Last night I made broccoli with a cheese sauce as our side because I’m doing the low-carb thing. Cheese sauce is the perfect topping for veggies. Melt butter in sauce pan on med-high, then whisk in flour and cook while whisking for 3 minutes. Add milk and cook until mixture thickens, 1-2 minutes. Then add cheese and continue whisking until melted. Super easy! This is a dinner my family raves over and my husband asks for often. This makes sizzlin’ on the grill year around wonderful! Why wait for summer to enjoy Bbq?!

  1. I love grillin’, too. Well, my hubby does the grillin’ but I still love it. We’re in Georgia where you never know what the weather is going to do but my hubby is almost always up for the challenge. We’ll have to make this soon, it sounds so good!!! Thank you for sharing.

    1. I agree Tanyi. I’m from Cali where it was no big deal to grill any time of the year. I’ve never had to do it in my garage before. But living in Minnesota is another story. We just put on our coats and open the doors for ventilation. It was worth it though. 🙂

  2. I love grilling. It’s so much easier and less messy than cooking in the kitchen. I’m looking forward to our move this summer so we can grill year round.
