Who doesn’t want nicer skin? I always feel like I could do something to make mine better. Or maybe that’s just me wishing for smoother, better skin. This ultimate DIY moisturizer is amazing; so moisturizing and not greasy. I love how it goes on and my skin loves it so much, it just drinks it up. This winter my skin was looking a little drier than usual so I definitely had to do something.

Your skin is your largest organ so you want to take good care of it. First necessity for healthy, glowing skin is getting enough sleep, drinking lots of water and trying to eat a balanced diet. (This part might be the most important but it’s the hardest.) Second necessity is good, quality skin care products.

This is definitely great for your skin and you will notice a difference in your skin.  When I started using these awesome ingredients together I noticed a difference quickly and I couldn’t be happier. It’s the easiest to make and one of the best things I’ve put on my skin.

Who doesn’t like knowing exactly what they put on (and basically in) your skin. You know that it only takes seconds for your skin to absorb whatever you put on it, so I like using natural and organic products. Plus it doesn’t get any cheaper for a great product.

A couple months back I was trying to save so I purchased a cheaper version moisturizer. Woah, what a mistake! It smelled like Windex…literally. Talk about chemicals. Ewww…so awful. I couldn’t stand to put it on my skin. But I tried it for a little bit because after all, I bought it. My skin felt terrible. I hated it.

I make a few beauty products for myself already so naturally moisturizer should be added to the list. I’ve made a few in the past but nothing comes close to how great this one is. These are all natural products so they’re perfect for any age group as well as any skin type. My skin loves them and yours will too.

The best part of the ultimate DIY moisturizer is its only two ingredients, unless you want to get age-defying fancy. This is exactly what I wanted and needed! So there are two extra ingredients that are totally optional.

Feel free to adjust the ingredients to what your skin needs. I needed moisture so I added more almond oil than you may need. It’s so wonderful that I can adjust the moisture so winter when you need more, add more of the oil. Summer when you need less, add less. What could be better or simpler?!  Also if you don’t have almond oil, argon oil works very well. Both are great for your skin.

In a small 4 oz. bottle I mixed 1 oz. of almond oil and 1 oz. of aloe vera. Then I tested it. You’ll need to shake vigorously before each and every use because they can separate. Test a small amount on your skin. If it soaks in quickly, you might want to add more almond oil, if it’s too greasy, add a little more aloe vera. I added more oil until I put it on and it felt smooth without soaking it up too quick. Then I added essential oil because they are amazing, 1-2 drops lavender oil and 3-4 drops frankincense oil. Then frankincense is for aging and the lavender is to help with redness and soothes your skin.

When I put it on it has a slight smell but it dissipates quickly. Your skin will love you for treating it to a wonderful moisturizing bath in healthy, natural products. Enjoy your ultimate DIY moisturizer. Happy moisturizing!

Please look at my other DIY beauty recipes, I have a few. What is your skin care regimen? Do you make any of your own beauty products?

  1. I’ve never thought to try a diy moisturizer before! I do love the way aloe feels on my skin. I use maracuja oil sometimes but I just use it straight up. I might have to try the almond oil next!

    1. No time like the present right Dominique?! I love this lotion. I add less oil in the summer and a little more oil in the winter. I can adjust it to what my skin needs. I love this option! And it’s natural…you can’t beat that!!! 😉

  2. Yep, I always want better skin! I’ve been really trying to go plain and fragrance free with my skin care recently and have been looking to may be make my own too. Going to give this a go as I love the idea there’s no nasties in it!

    1. That’s wonderful Annie! You could leave out the essential oils and it would be totally fragrance free. But I don’t even notice the smell once it’s on my skin. Please keep me posted as to how you like it.

  3. Hmmm, this is interesting. I wonder how it would work on oily skin. I have oily, acne prone and aging skin (I know, it’s wonderful), so I have to be careful. What is your skin type?

    1. I have combination skin but I notice it’s getting drier probably due to age. You could try it with less almond/argon oil at first. I usually mix it according to the weather and how my skin feels. The natural oil may help with the oiliness of your skin. Oh and tea tree oil helps with acne, you might try adding a couple drops to your moisturizer. Feel free to ask any other questions. 🙂

  4. Oh I had no idea it could be so simple to make your own moisturiser! Thanks so much for sharing this – if I had some oils around I would give it a go!
